Have missionaries stay in host families homes. This allows the people of the church
to become more involved and get to the missionaries on a more personal level. Depending
on the missionary (and the host family), this can be a very good experience.
Have meals at the church or have the missionaries assigned to eat with a different
church family each evening. Pot-luck dinners at church make for great fellowship
and plenty of food.
Don’t schedule too many excursions for the missionaries during the conference. This
will wear the missionary out (especially if they have small children) and will increase
the amount of expenses.
When buying gifts for the missionaries, ask what they need or would like so money
is not spent on what they don’t need or want.
How to Involve Your Church:
Create a missions committee. This not only saves the pastor time, but it also allows
more people in the church to be involved in missions. The committee can be responsible
for: communication between the church and missionary, present needs and prayer requests
of missionaries to the church, and more.
